Camp Belknap

Camp Belknap is an all boys summer resident camp in Tuftonboro, New Hampshire on the shores of Lake Winnipesaukee. The camp was started in 1903 by the New Hampshire YMCA. After the New Hampshire YMCA's disintegration in 1996 the camp was one of the few that was kept in operation. It is now an independently run camp bearing the name YMCA Camp Belknap. It celebrated its 100th year in operation in 2003, making it one of the oldest continuously operating camps in the United States, along with being among the most well endowed camps in the country. The camp includes over 25 activities and holds the Adams cup each year.

It is somewhat unique as it is one of few remaining summer camps to use only homegrown leadership, meaning its leaders must have once been campers and must have been selected through a number of ranks before being given a job and a cabin to lead. Campers at Belknap today are divided into five divisions: Cadets, Juniors, Middlers, Besserers and Seniors. Each summer, a number of campers in the Senior division receive "Senior Rec." From the group of Senior campers having received "Rec" comes the following summer's Leaders Corps (LCs). [1]
